GASTROENTEROLOGY AND LIVER FORUM

Gastroenterology and Liver Forum was set up a decade ago by the dynamic couple ; Dr Sandeep
Dhavan( Gastroenterologist ) and Dr Anuradha Dhavan (Microbiologist) in September 2010. The
purpose of the forum was to bring the gastroenterologists and hepatologists of the tricity both in
public and private, on a common platform for a common cause. The primary aim of the forum is to
create awareness amongst the public regarding the common diseases prevalent in the community.
Awareness camps, walkathon, public lectures and free helplines have been launched in the recent
past.

The forum has been actively pursuing academic activities wherein prominent faculty members of the
prestigious institutes to name a few, like PGI Chandigarh, AIIMS New Delhi, SGPGI Lucknow have
participated in continuing medical education programs. Various international speakers too have
delivered lectures to our eminent faculty and students.
The forum aims to keep the doctors as well as the public at large conversant with all the upcoming
scientific developments in the field of Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases. In this endevaour in
future also all academic activities shall be shared with the public and the specialists alike.

World Liver Day was commemorated by GLF and GI Rendezvous at Amritsar on 19th of April, 2022 by organising an interactive public awareness session at Guru Nanak Dev University. The session was presided over by VC Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu and attended by various local personalities representing GMC Amritsar, IMA Amritsar , Law makers and administration.
Dr. Arka De, the speaker of the day was appreciated by one and all for his inimitable style and easy to understand presentation with clear take home messages for a non medico audience. Here we share some glimpses of the session.
